My still-evolving method of active reading/annotating has already shown improvement in my eyes. In Part One: Emerging, a huge topic includes arguments. Even in the few papers that we have been assigned, I have noticed that it is easy to state my argument in a clear and concise manner. I am able to do this because of annotating. When I annotate I write down what I take from certain passages/paragraphs in the text. Then I ask questions about them and what I need to answer to formulate what I will soon begin writing. Next I highlight what I think is most important in that passage or paragraph. With that, I am able to find what I need, quickly, to start my argument. By writing notes to the side, it helps me formulate by opinion and not forget what I read in the first place. Also, this allows me to respond to the text and relate it to personal events that have happened to me. That is where my opinion generates from unless it is a non bias prompt.
Here are some examples of my annotations:
The coding process that we learned in class, allowed me keep track of some sentences that I had questions about and sentences that I understand. Therefore, I was able to reread them and try to find the information that I needed to in order to answer my own questions. Where I had questions I placed the letter Q and where I had understanding I placed the letter U. There are other codes that can be used to help decipher and find the text you are looking for.
Here are some examples where I used coding:

I like your annotations. Your pictures are very clear.
