Response to Module 3:
I believe that critical thinking is such an important part of nursing and the nursing process. I thought it was very vital to be included in the Knowledge and Clinical Judgement module. I learned a lot about the analysis phase of critical thinking. I think that this is one of the most important parts of this thinking, because it allows you to put the information to the test. I will use this in the clinical field by to remember prioritizing. I chose this specific piece of critical thinking because I believe that it is easy to prioritize the wrongs things. Different health care providers can have different opinions on what they feel should typically be prioritized. I think that this critical thinking skill is most important after collecting vital signs to aid with diagnosis. I thoroughly enjoy learning about it because I know that it is something that will always be crucial to the nursing field.
Response to Module 4:
I really enjoyed this module because it assessed a lot of the aspects of patient care and what will have to use in clinical practice. A lot of these points have been reiterated throughout nursing school, but that is what I find so interesting. I believe that at the end of the day, nursing is always brought down to the basics. Something that I do not often hear about is the survival potential. I will definitely let this influence me in the clinical setting. I learned that there are 4 different classes of survival potential in the event of a mass casualty. Some would think that it is important to save those with the best quality of life, but the highest priority (stage I) is the life-threatening injuries, as long as there is the potential to survive with treatment. So interestingly enough, prioritizing (from Module 3) comes into place and nursing comes down to the basics again. I believe that this will definitely be useful in the clinical setting and that I will be able to provide appropriate care to all of my patients despite their survival potential.
Excellent work; thanks for sharing your thoughts!
