Active Reading Skills in Other Courses

One course that I have used my active reading skills in that is not English, is Medicine in the Media, which is the explor credit I needed to take. In this class we read 4 books, currently we have finished two and are beginning the third this week. Every Thursday we are quizzed on about 150-175 pages of reading. Spreading this out over days is the best reading strategy I could do, instead of cramming it into one night of reading. Since my book is rented I cannot highlight in it which means I have to put sticky notes in my books. I use the sticky notes to star and highlight important sentences and passages. At the end of the chapters, I bullet point key points in the chapter that I had finished. On the night before my reading quizzes I always go through the sticky notes to refresh myself on what I had read to make sure there is nothing that I am forgetting. Also, using sticky notes has allowed me to participate in discussion and be confident in my answers and arguments. Using this reading strategy has allowed me to gain no less than a 4.5/5 on all of my reading quizzes.
