Response to Module 1:
Something new I learned from this module was the use of breaking down questions into positively-worded questions or negatively-worded questions questions. Breaking down questions into different categories allows you to focus on the type of question that the test taker may be answering. To begin with it is important to interpret what the question is asking, then to automatically cross out or add a (-) to the answers that are fare-fetched and incorrect, or may not be as correct as the other statements. In positively-worded questions, the test taker often focuses on the question at hand and debating whether they are asking for a correct answer or an incorrect answer. An example of a positively worded question is simply, “What should the nurse do or assess when presented with a certain situation?” When the test is asking for an incorrect answer, that is an example of a negatively worded question. Some examples of negatively worded questions include asking which answer is incorrect, which answer requires further teaching, which answer requires immediate invention, etc. I have always broke down questions into sections but I never learned to focus on positive and negatives, I am excited to integrate this method int0 my future test taking strategies and see if I am successful!
Response to Module 2:
I was intrigued by the amount of leadership that is necessary to run a patient floor/hospital/etc. Although most people are not surprised that it takes a lot of leadership to run a medical unit, I was specifically drawn to how much responsibility a beginner student nurse has. Beginner nursing students often become the closest with the patient out of the plan-of-care team due to the copious amount of time spent in the patients room and with the patient. This allows the beginner nurse to advocate for the patient in depicting what the patient does and does not desire, which can be extremely difficult to do when new and in the presence of others who are of higher education and higher pay grade. Beginner student nurses also get to assist in modifying the plan of care to ensure the patient’s needs are met and that their safety is never compromised. It is often thought that beginner student nurses are only their to clean up stool and emesis, but they actually play a much bigger role in the plan-of-care regarding their patient than others like to believe. This is why I thought it was so interesting that beginner student nurses play this large role in client care opposed to get the brunt end of the work (like people assume they do).
Bella, I loved the photo! Good reflective work and it was interesting to hear your message on the beginner student nurse! Many patients love having a student because of the amount of time they are at the bedside; enjoy every moment of it as it is so hard to do when you have multiple patients.
