Art in Nursing

I decided to use nature (excuse the telephone lines) as my medium of art to depict how I believe that nursing is an art. Many times you hear that nursing is science, nursing is evidence based practice, etc. To me, nursing is an art, it is relationships and connections with patients and coworkers. I chose this photo of the fall foliage because leaves go through phases, just like nursing does. After evolving, the leaves will regrow and become green, which is their basis. In the nursing profession, it is easy to lose yourself and remember why you chose this profession. It may take a patient, a situation, a specialty to find yourself again, but you will always find your way back to yourself. You are your own basis. That is why nursing is more than a science, it is a career, a life, and can make a person feel whole.

Pretty photo and nice analogy Bella! You will also go through phases in your nursing career and there is persistence in growing in a new direction. Nice job!

Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed reading your post. It was very relatable not only to nursing but other aspects of life. I related it to going through the different phases of nursing school, but it can also be related to the different phases of life. I really enjoyed this!

Great analogy Bella! I never thought of the leaves in a way like this. I agree that it takes one person or situation to real in why you wanted to become a nurse in the first place and it’s almost refreshing when you find yourself in this position. It’s important to remember why we wanted to be a nurse and I think it’s great that you related it to the leaves changing. Awesome job!

I love how you said that the leaves, just like nurses, go through stages. I said something of similar effect in my paragraph about how nursing has grown and changed over the years and how nurses have to adapt to it. I also really like how you took a picture and made it more abstract, instead of picking something that screamed NURSING.
